About African American Museum

Founded in 1996, The African American Museum was created to honor the incredible contributions of African Americans in New Orleans through celebrating art and culture, but mainly by preserving the history.
NOAAM gives special importance to its vision of how the community connects and feels inspired by African American history.

The museum offers 1-hour guided tours or the 4-hour Treme Experience, which you can book online in both cases.
For guided tours, the museum’s staff recommends booking at least one week before the date, and two weeks in advance for the Treme Experience.

They also have many signature programs and unique exhibitions, you should always check out the events calendar to stay updated!
