Founded in 1936, the Louisiana Museum of Natural Science educates families and visitors of all ages about the natural world through programs and exhibits. The museum centers on the research and study of mammals, birds, fishes, reptiles and amphibians, fossils, early human culture, DNA, palynology, and science education. This is a place for the whole family to visit and learn tons about our home: Earth.
Exhibits are popular at the LSU Museum of Natural Science (is one of the biggest in the country in terms of size and diversity). Visitors will get to see the most active and third largest university-based collection of birds in the world, the largest collection of DNA samples, displays of reptiles, birds, mammals, and amphibians of Louisiana, and many more unique exhibits and collections.
The Louisiana Museum of Natural Science also offers special events for all ages, and the special Kids’ Day at the Museum!
